Chrono Atlas Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 11, 2026

Chrono Atlas does not require an account and does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking. Exploration progress stays on your device. The app connects to our content delivery service and to Apple services to provide content, check for updates, and process purchases.

1. Who we are

Chrono Atlas is an educational history exploration app provided by YONGWEI RUAN. This Privacy Policy explains how the Chrono Atlas iOS app handles information and how you can contact us about privacy.

2. Information stored on your device

Chrono Atlas does not require you to create an account. The following information is stored locally on your device:

• Completed landmarks, unlocked Codex cards, recent activity, and related exploration progress.
• App preferences, including update-reminder preferences.
• Downloaded history content and images cached for performance and offline use.
• Purchase entitlement status used to determine whether premium content is unlocked. Payment card details are not stored by Chrono Atlas.

We do not upload your exploration progress to a server operated by us. The current version does not provide an account, cloud progress backup, or cross-device progress synchronization.

3. Content delivery and network information

Chrono Atlas downloads content manifests, history content, and images from content.chronoatlas.cn. This service uses Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) in Hong Kong and Alibaba Cloud content delivery network (CDN) infrastructure.

When your device requests content, Alibaba Cloud and the network providers involved in delivering the request may process standard technical information such as your IP address, the requested resource, request date and time, HTTP headers, response status, and security or diagnostic logs. This information is used to deliver and cache content, maintain security, prevent abuse, measure service reliability, and troubleshoot failures. It is not used by Chrono Atlas for advertising, cross-app tracking, or building a personal profile.

Alibaba Cloud processes this information under its applicable agreements and privacy documentation. You can learn more in the Alibaba Cloud Privacy Policy .

4. Apple services and in-app purchases

Chrono Atlas uses Apple services for the following purposes:

• StoreKit: to load localized product information, complete a one-time in-app purchase, verify the purchase entitlement, support Family Sharing where available, and restore eligible purchases.
• App Store update check: to check Apple's public App Store information for a newer version of Chrono Atlas.

Apple processes your Apple Account, payment details, transaction data, and related App Store information. Chrono Atlas receives product information and verified transaction or entitlement status but does not receive your full payment card details. Apple's handling of this information is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

5. Photos and story narration

• If you choose to save a Codex card, Chrono Atlas requests add-only Photos access and writes the selected image to your photo library. The app does not read your existing photos through this feature. You can change Photos permission in iOS Settings.
• Story narration may download prerecorded audio from Chrono Atlas's content delivery service. If recorded audio is unavailable, the app may use Apple's system speech capabilities. Chrono Atlas does not record your voice, upload narration text, or send your exploration progress to the content delivery service for narration.

6. Privacy and support websites

The Chrono Atlas privacy and support pages are hosted using GitHub Pages. The app does not open these pages in the background; your browser connects to GitHub only when you choose to open one of the links. GitHub may process standard web request information according to the GitHub General Privacy Statement .

7. Support communications

If you contact support, we receive the email address, message, and any other information you choose to include. We use this information to respond, investigate problems, protect the service, and maintain support records as reasonably necessary. Please do not include sensitive personal information that is not needed for your request.

8. Advertising, analytics, tracking, and sale of data

Chrono Atlas does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9. How information is used

Information described in this policy is used only as necessary to:

• Provide requested app features and deliver history content.
• Process, verify, and restore eligible in-app purchases.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose technical failures.
• Respond to support and privacy requests.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

10. Retention and deletion

• Local progress, preferences, and cached content remain on your device until removed through app or device-management actions. Uninstalling Chrono Atlas normally removes its local app data.
• Apple retains purchase and App Store information according to Apple's own policies and legal obligations.
• Alibaba Cloud may retain operational, security, and delivery logs for the periods required to provide and protect the service, subject to its applicable terms and our service configuration.
• Support emails may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond, preserve support history, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. You may request deletion by contacting us, subject to any information we must retain for legal or security reasons.

11. International processing

Apple, Alibaba Cloud, GitHub, and their service providers may process information in countries or regions outside your place of residence. Where required, these providers use legal and contractual safeguards for international transfers as described in their respective privacy documentation.

12. Your choices and rights

You can:

• Use the app without creating an account.
• Change Photos permission in iOS Settings.
• Remove local app data by uninstalling the app.
• Contact us to ask about support communications or to exercise privacy rights available under the laws that apply to you.

Because Chrono Atlas does not maintain a server-side user account or upload exploration progress, we generally cannot identify or retrieve local progress from your device.

13. Children

Chrono Atlas is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account or advertising system. If you believe a child has sent personal information through support, contact us so that we can review the request.

14. Security

Chrono Atlas uses HTTPS for network requests and limits remote content to approved Chrono Atlas domains. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the information and services described in this policy.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when app features, service providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise required by law.

2. 保存在设备上的信息

Chrono Atlas 无需创建账户。以下信息保存在你的设备本地：

• 已完成的地标、已解锁的图鉴卡片、最近活动以及相关探索进度。
• App 偏好设置，包括更新提醒偏好。
• 为提高加载速度和支持离线使用而缓存的历史内容与图片。
• 用于判断高级内容是否已解锁的购买权益状态。Chrono Atlas 不会保存你的支付卡信息。

我们不会把你的探索进度上传到由我们运营的服务器。当前版本不提供账户、云端进度备份或跨设备进度同步。

3. 内容分发与网络信息

Chrono Atlas 从 content.chronoatlas.cn 下载内容清单、历史内容和图片。该服务使用位于香港的阿里云对象存储服务（OSS）和阿里云内容分发网络（CDN）。

设备请求内容时，阿里云及参与传输的网络服务提供商可能会处理常规技术信息，例如 IP 地址、请求的资源、请求日期与时间、HTTP 标头、响应状态，以及安全或诊断日志。这些信息用于传输和缓存内容、维护安全、防止滥用、衡量服务可靠性和排查故障。Chrono Atlas 不会将其用于广告、跨 App 跟踪或建立个人画像。

4. Apple 服务与 App 内购买

Chrono Atlas 将 Apple 服务用于以下用途：

• StoreKit：加载本地化商品信息、完成一次性 App 内购买、验证购买权益、在适用时支持家人共享，以及恢复符合条件的购买。
• App Store 更新检查：查询 Apple 公开的 App Store 信息，以判断 Chrono Atlas 是否有新版本。

Apple 会处理你的 Apple 账户、支付信息、交易数据以及相关 App Store 信息。Chrono Atlas 会收到商品信息，以及经验证的交易或权益状态，但不会收到你的完整支付卡信息。Apple 对这些信息的处理受 Apple 隐私政策约束。

5. 照片与故事旁白

• 如果你选择保存图鉴卡片，Chrono Atlas 会请求仅添加照片的权限，并将所选图片写入系统照片。此功能不会读取你已有的照片。你可以在 iOS“设置”中更改照片权限。
• 故事旁白可能从 Chrono Atlas 的内容分发服务下载预先录制的音频。如果录制音频不可用，App 可能改用 Apple 的系统朗读功能。Chrono Atlas 不会录制你的声音、上传旁白文字，也不会为了播放旁白而把探索进度发送到内容分发服务。

6. 隐私政策与技术支持网站

Chrono Atlas 的隐私政策和技术支持页面托管在 GitHub Pages。App 不会在后台打开这些页面；只有当你主动打开链接时，浏览器才会连接 GitHub。GitHub 可能会按照 GitHub 一般隐私声明处理常规网页请求信息。

7. 技术支持通信

如果你联系技术支持，我们会收到你的电子邮件地址、邮件内容以及你主动提供的其他信息。我们会使用这些信息回复咨询、调查问题、保护服务，并在合理必要的期限内保留支持记录。请勿提供与问题无关的敏感个人信息。

8. 广告、分析、跟踪与信息出售

Chrono Atlas 不包含广告 SDK、第三方分析 SDK 或跨 App 跟踪。我们不会出售个人信息，也不会为了跨场景行为广告而共享个人信息。

9. 信息的使用方式

本政策所述信息仅在以下用途所需的范围内使用：

• 提供用户请求的 App 功能和历史内容。
• 处理、验证和恢复符合条件的 App 内购买。
• 维护安全、防止滥用和诊断技术故障。
• 回复技术支持和隐私请求。
• 遵守适用的法律义务。

10. 保留与删除

• 本地进度、偏好设置和缓存内容会保留在设备上，直到通过 App 或设备管理操作将其删除。卸载 Chrono Atlas 通常会删除 App 的本地数据。
• Apple 会根据自身政策和法律义务保留购买与 App Store 信息。
• 阿里云可能会根据适用条款和我们的服务配置，在提供和保护服务所需的期限内保留运行、安全及内容传输日志。
• 为回复问题、保留支持记录、保护服务或履行法律义务，我们可能会在合理必要的期限内保留支持邮件。你可以联系我们请求删除，但法律或安全原因要求保留的信息除外。

11. 跨境处理

Apple、阿里云、GitHub 及其服务提供商可能会在你居住地以外的国家或地区处理信息。在法律要求的情况下，这些提供商会按照各自隐私文件中说明的方式，采用法律和合同保障措施处理跨境传输。

12. 你的选择与权利

你可以：

• 在不创建账户的情况下使用 App。
• 在 iOS“设置”中更改照片权限。
• 通过卸载 App 删除本地 App 数据。
• 联系我们查询技术支持通信，或行使适用法律赋予你的隐私权利。

Chrono Atlas 不维护服务端用户账户，也不会上传探索进度，因此我们通常无法识别或调取保存在你设备上的本地进度。

13. 儿童

Chrono Atlas 面向普通用户，并非专门面向 13 岁以下儿童。我们不会通过账户或广告系统有意收集儿童的个人信息。如果你认为儿童通过技术支持渠道发送了个人信息，请联系我们处理。

14. 安全

Chrono Atlas 的网络请求使用 HTTPS，并将远程内容限制在获准的 Chrono Atlas 域名。任何传输或存储方式都无法保证绝对安全，但我们会根据本政策所述信息和服务，采取合理的技术与组织措施。

15. 本政策的变更

当 App 功能、服务提供商或法律要求发生变化时，我们可能会更新本隐私政策。修订后的政策会发布在本页面，并更新生效日期。除非法律另有要求，重大变更仅在发布后适用。
